Q: These ankle supports do the compression job I need to reduce post thrombotic swelling at my ankle. The problem is that they tend to slide up my foot from my toes and act as a tourniquet around my instep. This is quite painful.
I have the same problem with calf length supports and solve that problem by using the closed toe option.
Question: Where can I find these ankle supports in the closed toe option? I don't see them in your catalog.
If perhaps there are not available, would you please inquire from yr Mfr's rep as to why not? I can't be the only edema patient with this problem.
Thanks,
John Erdman
A: Unfortunately the ankle supports are not available in a closed toe option. To solve the tourniquet effect, I would suggest sticking to closed toe, calf high socks/stockings. Depending on your condition and how severe the swelling is in your ankles, your legs may benefit more from a calf high stockings anyway. The ankle support may just cause the swelling to pool right above the ankle rather than pushing it up further. We will however forward your suggestion on to the manufacturers though.
